About Alec

Alec grew up on Catalina Island, where, at the age of 13, he began his lifelong career in computers when he purchased for himself an Apple II+. To earn the money to buy his first computer, Alec worked all summer filling SCUBA tanks at the local dive shop. During his high school years, he was well know as the local computer guy, even helping his teachers with their computer lab problems.

After high school, he moved to Santa Barbara, where he not only began classes at City College in Information Systems, but also took a job as a Computer Room Manager. By the time he had finished his degree at City College, his computer skills had progressed to the point where he was able to take a job as a Computer Programmer. During this time, he has not only supported networks with hundreds of users, but configured servers, workstations and assisted users on a day-to-day basis. Alec is currently employed by the City of Santa Barbara, and has the title of Financial Systems Programmer.

Alec has three rules that he uses when providing support: 1) always be available for the client, (computer problems often do not wait for business hours); 2) always give the user the tools they need to be self-sufficient; 3) recommend to the client all possible ways of saving money and time.
